On Sunday, January 21st, I had a shoot with Lillea Goian, she is a lady who I introduced in last blog. She is a 20 years old fashion designer, and one of the most notable young lady in Vancouver, I think.
I met her on the street about 5or 6month a go and since then I wanted to have a shoot with her.
Today I want to talk about 2 chip which I always do or think when I have a photoshoot.
And these are the pictures we got.
1. tell your models/clients what you want to get
I think this is really important. If you don't have any ideas for the shooting, like about their cloth, color, Background color, expressions and what is your plan for the shoot..etc, you will never get satisfied picture.
I think as a photographer, I should be very clear about what I want to get in the shoot before I actually start shooting.
And tell/explain the models what I want to get until they are also able to imagine what I imagine.
so always helpful to get example images which you imagine, and show it them before shooting.
"Communication with models" this is a key.
2. Lead your models
This is a little bit similar with first topic, but this is also really important.
Professional models, they know what they need to do, so I don't really need to tell them what expressions, posing, actions....
But when I have a shoot with not professional models, I need to lead them, and make them comfortable.
Otherwise I and models can't get the pictures which we want to get. Both are unhappy.
Unless my models are professional models, people don't know what they look like in picture, so every single time when I press the button, they care about their expression, cloth, style...
It waste so much time, and pain.
So as a photographer, I need to lead them. Control the shoot. Before they ask me "what should I do? How do I look like?", tell them first. Not like aggressive way or having aggressive mind, just lead them naturally by communication.
These are my chip,
Thank you for reading my blog.
Next, I will talk about the shoot with Amber, 23 years British lady.
